The music heard on this Album opens onto a space in which the present imaginatively reflects the past. Not only Enjott Schneider’s “Nocturnes,” which are dedicated to the guitarist Stefan Barcsay and from which this Album takes its title, but also the names of the other compositions gathered here refer to a prehistory stretching back to the tradition of 19th-century character pieces mostly for the piano. Within this expressive world connections are made in the most diverse ways.
